“Dr. Peña to hygiene room 5 for an exam please, I think we’ve found the one…” Who knew the start of their journey together would entail Sammy entering the dental office where Dilmarys worked and a few savvy matchmaking co-workers who thought he was her perfect match! Sammy was expecting his assigned dentist “Dr. Peña” to be an old man with corny jokes…instead he met Dr. Peña, a woman with a wicked sense of humor and was immediately intrigued. Dilmarys tried in vain to keep it professional and ignore the impressive, muscular arms visible through Sammy’s shirt.



As Sammy used every tool in his arsenal to charm and woo Dilmarys, her co-workers joked and teased through her headset, occasionally walking by blowing kisses behind Sammy’s back. After a number of visits to the dental office, Dilmarys shared her contact information and their story began to bloom!



As Dilmarys & Sammy got to know each other, they realized they grew up minutes from each other, yet had never crossed paths. Dilmarys shared that she would be celebrating her big 30th birthday coming up on Dec 9th. As her 30th celebration drew closer she decided to invite her new patient/friend to her milestone celebration.



Upon arriving at the beautifully decorated warehouse, Sammy and his right-hand man Nick, were both floored at how amazing everything looked! He saw how much fun Dilmarys was having and did not want the night to end. As the party was coming to an end, Dilmarys learned that her party had been extended by an hour, but didn’t know why since she had arranged until a certain time. She was fascinated and baffled by who would pay so much money just so she could continue to party the night away…

During the height of the party, Sammy had snuck downstairs to speak with the event manager and anonymously arranged to have the party extended an extra hour. Little did he know the whole transaction was witnessed by Dilmarys’ cousin Kelsey who would later reveal the knight in shining armor was none other than Sammy!



As any man on a mission, Sammy had another trick up his sleeve. He helped clean up

after the party and in a suave move offered to drive Dilmarys’ car back to her house on Long Island (she was not in a state to drive). Luckily he did because the next morning NY was hit with over a foot of snow. Dilmarys knew then that Sammy was a special person who was worth taking a much closer look at.



Sammy’s next move was to plan a date with precise attention to detail that would surely make Dilmarys sit up and take notice.



It started with him picking up Dilmarys at 9 AM and telling her to have a change of clothes and a bathing suit ready (in the middle of winter in January?). He pulled up to her house with a Starbucks Chai tea and an impeccably planned trip to the AQUARIUM. Dilmarys did not have the slightest clue as to what was going on, but was intrigued and quite baffled. She shared her location with her cousins and gave them a heads up just in case he was a serial killer (a girl can’t be too careful) .



The first clue should’ve been the signing of that damn waiver. She had never heard of an aquarium that required a signed waiver. She quickly learned Sammy’s secret date plans were to deep dive in a shark tank!



As Dilmarys fielded her 2nd panic attic at the Aquarium she couldn’t help but wonder why she had agreed to this madman’s bright idea of an adventurous date. Sammy had plotted this exact outcome. He gently calmed Dimarys’ fears to the point where she was ready to hold his hand and jump in the shark tank with him. Hand in hand with calming and supportive whispers they were able to complete the dive. The shark date was a phenomenal experience for the both of them! Dil conquered a fear that she thought she would have never been able to overcome.

After exiting the shark tank Sammy gave Dilmarys a large bag with various items he had previously prepared. As Dilmarys wondered what kind of man would pack a woman a bag with her favorite toiletries (how on Earth did he know her so well? Stalker status right here), she wondered what was coming next?



After showering up at the Aquarium and heading out, it was Dilmarys’ turn to calm the nerves of this big linebacker-built man to get him through the…BUTTERFLY exhibit. The same way Sammy was able to calm and reassure Dilmarys that everything would be ok with the Sharks, Dilmarys was able to do it with Sammy and the BUTTERFLIES. At first Dilmarys definitely thought he was faking his fears, but she soon realized he really was terrified.



After the aquarium they headed to a restaurant with great ambiance and went through 2 bottles of wine and a keg of beer as they talked the night away. The date solidified for both of them that they had each faced a fear that day and helped each other through it. Their chemistry was palpable and they knew it.



Fast forward September 5th, 2020 and Sammy pulls off a stunning surprise as he gets on one knee in front of his and Dilmarys’ family and asks her to be his wife. He had yet again planned a fun evening of libations and delicious food cooked by him without ever letting on that this would be one epic night. There was happiness, laughter and both families gave their blessing.



Our family and friends mean the world to us and have embraced our amazing connection. We are beyond excited to share this very special time in our lives with all of you! We hope you can join us as we celebrate our love at Playa Del Carmen on March 18, 2023!
